Hey, guess which band was open in AK? Wow, what a kick! Stations were wall to
wall on every band I worked. Too much of a good thing because it was
impossible to find a quiet spot to settle in an call CQ without noisey
neighbors.
The SFI actually increased during the contest and all the concerns about
M-Class and X-Class flares turned out to be a minor annoyance. My only wish
was that I was about 20 years younger so I could keep plowing ahead during the
wee hours of the night. This represents my all time personal high for this CQ
WW in both QSOs logged and total score. Given my age and the solar cycle I may
never be able to top this, but boy it was sure fun!
