Comments:
This was my 60th CW SS, and I decided to have fun, rather than doing the full
bore grind. Many of our 70+ gang did our time in full out efforts for decades,
including the 48 hour version many decades ago. So I decided NOT to go full
bore, which usually involved:
First 11-12 hours without a break.
Sipping soup at the op. position instead of dinner.
After 08Z, doing short bursts, unable to sleep
Enduring slow Sunday PM
etc., etc., etc
Those strategies/tactics worked, as I made the top Unlimited score three of the
past six years. No more of that. Age is limiting my focus/concentration on
SO2R.
So I set a goal to make some points for NCCC, and enjoy the two hour bursts I
did through out the contest; 1000k Qs and a sweep. Took four hours off in
Saturday primetime to enjoy dinner with XYL and watch hockey and football on a
new TV.
Other major contests are starting to add an entry category with fewer hours. I
would suggest a 12 hour SENIOR category. Of course the sponsor would take on
more work, etc... What y'all think?
