Comments:
I didn't intend to operate much but when I saw the joint was jumpin' I couldn't
resist. I don't know how many more 10M weekends I'll see like this and wanted
something to tell my grandkids about, whether they believe me or not.
Again, due to Assistance, I was boosted into the rarified heights of the
Multi-Ops, albeit with low power and a single operator with only one
personality. It won't go to my head. Low power operating of any kind is like
being the world's tallest midget - ho hum.
M/S also encouraged me to do some phone operating. I recently got a new
desktop microphone to replace the FT2K's standard issue handheld mic and it
works much better as well as freeing up my hands. I don't operate enough phone
to justify a headset with a boom mic.
This was the second weekend in a row I had fun on 28 mega-hurts, having put in
my time in the RTTY contest the weekend before. Ten has been pretty sporadic
in Cycle 24. As far as I know, the peak Cycle 24 SFI is still 190 from
September 2011. In previous cycles it went over 200. The best thing about
Cycle 24 for me is I worked and confirmed (LoTW) enough on 12m to bump me up to
an 8BDXCC.
Station: FT2K, N1MM, ye olde attic dipole.
Thanks for all the fun.
73,
Ken, AB1J
