Comments:
Was operating from an outside temporary display for The Villages Amateur Radio
Club, demonstrating how Ham Radio can respond to weather emergencies. Overhead
roof, no side cover. Initially had trouble with Flex Control changing my RIT
instead of tr freq so I was not receiving where I was transmitting and had to
reboot. Heavy storm started with rain blowing on equipment. Many people
standing around wanting to pull the plug, including my wife, Club President
WB2VYK, but I insisted on getting 10 contacts so the session would count. Once
I got #10, there was no more patience. Flex 3000, 100 watts thru battery
powered SG-237 at base of 20' fishing pole with 4 radials elevated 18 inches.
I just finished drying out my Flex and computer and setting up at home, and all
seems to be working, so I'll see more of you at 03Z.
