Comments:

I returned to Mississippi's highest point, Woodall Mountain (elevation: a
whopping 806 feet) for another SOQRP portable effort.

I operated from 1800-2200Z Saturday. Things were slow Saturday afternoon with
just a few local stations making it into the log. I returned Sunday at 1400Z
and found 6m open to Florida. There were several brief openings in various
directions Sunday, but none were all that spectacular. A number of QSOs were
boosted by what seemed like meteor scatter, but with less than 5 watts at my
disposal, it was difficult for me to take advantage of the brief enhancements.
After conditions took a dive mid-afternoon, I hung on to make a few 2m and 432
MHz QSOs before pulling the plug at 2215Z.

I was really pleased to actually make QSOs with the WA5VJB design
"Cheap" wood boom 6-element Yagi I built for 432. It's always fun
building something from scratch and making it work! It was good for four
grids, but I might have done even better had I not had a strangely-high noise
level on 432 only.

I regretted not having 222 ready in time for this year's contest, although some
of the local 222 ops I expected to hear did not seem to be on the air this
weekend anyway. Perhaps Father's Day resulted in slightly lower
participation.

Thanks to all those whom I worked for being patient with my QRP signal. A
number of QSOs were quite challenging, and of course, some were unfortunately
lost to QSB. It was still a lot of fun, though.

Radio: Yaesu FT-817ND
Antennas: 2 el 6m; 4 el 2m; 6 el 432
