Comments:

Yess! The chance to use the EU MM record making setup from ES9C last year's
effort (almost 5000 Q's and 2 million points on 15m) was appealing to say the
least. A huge amount of aluminium in the air - altogther 75 elements on 15
meters of 5 antennas and inband SO2R capability was at my disposal. The only
uncertainty seemed to be the propagation: does it hold up? At our latitude this
is always one of the key questions. A modest target would have been to beat the
35-year-old Estonian record. And, propagation permitting, the Baltic record set
last year.

The reality was a bit different, though cannot complain about the score.
Firstly, the band was not in comparable shape - no 200+ Q-rates and noticably
less Q's this year. Interference level of S9 from the main transmitting antenna
while pointing east allowed very limited inband SO2R capability until the band
opened to stateside. Using the second receiver of FTDX-5000 instead was some
relief. Thus, I not happy with the multiplier count. Looked like there was not
much activity from the Carribean and ohter multplier generating areas.

The double H-frame of 40 elements proved itself once again - 700 JA's and 1200
W/VE's. Decent nighttime propagation over the north pole on Sunday late evening
starting with zone 3 and gradually spreading to zone 4 and even zone 5 gave me
200+ extra 3-point Q's compensating the earlier band closure compared to
stations in South and West-Europe. Anyway, score comparing will the thrilling.

Thanks to all callers!
73, Rein, ES5RW
