Comments:

The score is my meager 10m score all by itself.

I'm kind of like a fish out of water on phone, thrashing about and gasping for
air, but every year I do it again. I try to work all three WW contests and
fancy myself as sort of a Triathlete, but phone is my weak leg. But I had fun
and was successful by my standards.

As soon as it got dark Sunday evening I propped a 15 ft pole under the far end
of my 40m antenna and worked 40m. Thank you, Canada.

Conditions were good with gobs of stations on 10, but I didn't have any of the
long haul contacts I expected. Heard only one JA (not worked). Worked a
couple of KH6 stations. No ZS, VK, ZL, UA9/0. Didn't work Asia. When I don't
make WAC on the high bands in an international contest, I know there's something
askew. There were lots of Middle Eastern and Cyprus stations, but I couldn't
work any of them.

Folks went way up on 10. I worked OK1VAM on 29240.

MU0GSY was spotted frequently on 10m but I never, ever heard him. Working ESP,
maybe.

My makeshift bandscope was very useful for finding goodies between spots.
There are more to be found on SSB since there isn't a SSB skimmer. It seems to
me that it might be useful to make a phone skimmer that identifies occupied
frequencies. That would give a useful clue in addition to the regular spots.

As an 10m aside, I've been operating a bit on FM at 29.6 MHz. Never tried that
before. Conditions haven't been too favorable with QSB which has a severe
effect on the wide FM signals. I also learned how to use my rig to work 10m
repeaters, specifically W5DFW in the Republic of Texas which I hear all day
long.

Thanks for the Qs.

73,
Ken, AB1J
