Hi All:
First off, NO I did'nt pay all the other ve6 ops to stay off HIHI. Thanks to
all the cluster bombings I think a 1 watt stn could have scored well!!!. On the
inset my strategy was to use less and do better than my 103k of before...
But....I got the distinct impression that 15m played a lot better to AB than
to that my pals to the south had. I heard a lot of low big gun scores for the
first half. All big gun stns were 40 over but lots of low Q counts...Sooo if
Tree and Jeff were here near the Montana border doing "Q" with so2r
and a slick setup and a ve6 call (gotta keep me off too(, records would fall
like the snow we got this weekend HI!!..Prop on 15 to me and away from me was
brilliant and so2r would be a must for the other parts of SS.. Could'nt do a
thing on the lo bands (yup missed SK and N Dakota). To that end and trying to
do more with less, VE6EX was...not so2r HIHI
A Mosley (home brew flee market @50c per trap) 3 el tribander on a city
lot/tower condx...~65ft
Inv vee for 80 and 40 off the tower with Home made tuner to handle the
swr...(lots of that on 80cw!!!)
Kenwood ts 690s (rx all and tx on the hi bands) with peak reader Bird to
keep it honest...
VE6EX home brew vfo/, two tube tuna tin W1TS, Don Mix (my ham op hero)and
fox radio.
Now with 6AU6 vfo, 12BY7 buffer and the mighty 5763 final (Sweating and with
a bit of chirp thrown in HIHI) for 80 and 40...A bit shaky on the hi bands HIHI
And of course TRLOG; on DOS and flawless as ever, easy to use and truly
solid as it was when dos was born.... Now I have to wait a full year to do it
again.... 72's all
   Cheers, Dan VE6EX..
