What a blast!

Pip and I had great fun this weekend!

Conditions were fantastic, mixed in with some QRN, but all-in-all 160 was in
great shape.

We worked 81 sections - never heard AK or NT. Worked 28 DX countries.
Made 77 five-point QSOs.

All DX (except for XE2S) was worked via running. XE2S was the only DX pile-up
we entered.

During our individual assigned time slots, PIP operated SO1V and I operated
SO2R. So, we had only one operator on at any one time.

The Hi-Z 4-Square RX antenna performed nicely, especially for EU DX, and
especially during the couple of hours around at EU sunrise both days. My new
(this fall) 480' NE Beverage worked well, too.

The 4-SQ performed better overall with its lower take-off angle.

I have only one 160M transmit antenna, a hat-loaded 1/4 wave vertical (which
performs spectacularly, BTW). In the SO2R mode, I switch that antenna (via the
DXD SO2R controller) between the two 1500W stations using an Array Solutions
Dual Feed Option Two-Pak relay.

This 12V, 5KW antenna relay has >80dB isolation between ports and works
quite well in this single band contest with only one antenna available. On
both radios, I listen on the Beverages and the 4 SQ, so the 1/4 Wave XMT
vertical is not needed for either SO2R radio until that radio needs to
transmit.

Nice to see so many PVRCers on this weekend. It sounded a bit like SS.
TNX for all the Qs! See you next week on 10M!

Equipment:
two IC-7800, two Acom 2000a

Antennas:
RX: Hi-Z 4-Sq (NE, SE, SW, NW) and separate NE, W, E Beverages
TX: Hat loaded, top fed, 1/4 wave (134') vertical.

Rate sheet and QSO Prefix data follows.

73,

Bill N3RR
