Comments:

For this contest there was no effort to develop any new technical
gizmo's nor did I have any special goals. In fact, I only intended to
operate part time. But my 10-year old daughter was home sick instead
of at her mother's place so I had to spend some time tasking care of
her. That meant I didn't try doing any projects, so I actually spent
more time on the radio than I might have otherwise.

I operated unlimited so I could see how much DX I could find. I also
wanted to see if I could make the band map "empty". Of course,
there
are many spots that point to needed stations that just are not there.

About 3pm Sunday I noticed that my score was around 750k. So the
thought popped into my head to try an reach a million. That would
require 350 QSOs in the last 4 hours, which seemed very unlikely.
Also, working all the states would be nice, and ND, SD, SC, and WY
remained.

All the states fell into place, one per remaining hour. Also found a
very quiet VE4EA to make the Canadian collection sort of complete
(allowing for the usual absence of VO2, VY0, VY1 and VE8). I heard
VY1JA working people before the contest, put never heard him during
the contest. But definitely short of a million points.

SB3W called me at 2127Z Saturday. How does that work?? His signal
had no flutter and was easy to copy. I wondered if I busted the call,
but he spotted me on the cluster right after our QSO. Is there a
corresponding path to somewhere from here in the evening, are am I not
far enough north?

I didn't try to get into the pileups for 3D2MK and YD1DPM during the
last few minutes. Instead I was able to run until the last 15 minutes
or so, and I found people to work even in the last minute. This
contest frequently ends strong, which is a nice change of pace from
160 meter contests.
