Comments:
Well that was a crazy weekend. As usual, the propagation wasn't great, but
there were still some jewels in there. 2 meters had a lot of QSB this weekend,
as signals would suddenly come way up out of the noise and then go back.
My highlight was leaving home a few hours before the contest to start ferrying
kids to various activities, and my new cheapo Chinese 222 FM rig had showed up.
So as the contest started, I threw a 222 halo up in the tree - and it worked
for 3 mults, so that was $50/mult hi hi
The low light was realizing that something is very wrong with the 432 on my
rig. It isn't hearing, and it's obviously not a pre-amp/feed line/antenna
issue. So that cost me probably 5-8 QSO's and a couple more multipliers.
Gotta send it to the shop unfortunately.
Thanks to everyone for all the QSO's. I managed to pick off a couple some new
grids, even if my antennas are pretty bush league.
One last thought, I really wish one of the ARRL VHF contests was CW only, which
would provide longer distance contacts. Hats off to those ops who were calling
CQ on the CW side.
