Comments:
Decided to operate RDXC on Friday. Setup was arranged on Saturday morning in
about 3 hours (10am to 1pm local).
Overall band conditions and activity were in-line for rewriting the record
books. Due to the never ending flow of Russians and mults I had plans of
aggressive "click & call" game with 2 radios round the clock.
Sadly, reality was pretty different. Slow rate and plenty of lost time due to
many repeating requests (callsign, serial or both) no matter what speed I
tried, losing against multiple callers 50% of times despite all the tricks
about qrg, a number of guys cqing on my face.
As I already experienced in 2012, working Russians with 100w on 80/160 is a
struggle: 2 out of 3 UA9/UA0 are untouchable but even worse is the usual bunch
of deaf UA3/UA4!
Thanks to the ARI Abano crew for allowing their club callsign usage on such a
short notice.
QTH: hilltop 450 mt asl, steep terrain on all directions.
Equipment used:
RTX: 2 x FT1000 MKV field
ANTS:
10: 5L fixed NE, 5L rotary
15: 6L OWA
20: 5L OWA
40: 4L OWA
80/160: verticals & wires
RX: bvgs NE, NW, SW
