Comments:
I decided to try playing with the Big Guns. Normally I run 100 watts with my
remote station. This time I took my SB-220 to the site and sat at a card table
in the 8' x 8' shed. This way I was able to tune the amp. With the amp I did
better by about 10 - 15 Q's. I had a few more stations calling at the same
time and had a few real weak stations call.
I left the amp on and tuned to 40 meters. For 0300Z I'm going to try working
mostly 40 meters and see how that goes. I can also get on 15 and 20 meters
with a low tri-bander, fixed NW, attached to a second antenna input.
All this is to help me decide if I want to buy a remote controllable amp at
Dayton this year.
I'D BE INTERESTED IN KNOWING IF ANYONE NOTICED THAT I WAS LOUDER.
