Bonus points included - 100 for emergency power
Rig: FT-857D set at 20w (very light for 150W limit in LP category)
Antennas: ~8ft mono-band whips (modified Hustlers, longer and less L) and
5" mag mount.
Straight key and three built-in memories in the rig for CW. Paper logging.
Relaxed operation with all of this at 20 wpm or less.
For the 20w of power this mobile installation worked fine on CW with many East
Coast stations logged. Worked a couple stations in Caribbean on 20m what was
nice as they are not always easy to get to from here. KH6's were easy to work
as usual, heard several KL7's but they were S&P.
Most stations I called actually heard me, some called-in on my CQ. I did not
drive to any hill top locations i.e. no advantage there, and operated parked
next to the house in SF Bay Area.
