@50'broadside E/W. WriteLog V11.28J does not support AZQP, required manual
intervention before submitting Cabrillo 3.0 to contest sponsor.
Chose QRP for both the Pennsylvania and Arizona simultaneous events. WriteLog
poorly supports the PAQP and does not support the AZQP. I found work arounds
and then manually correct each log submission to fit the Cabrillo requirement.
QRP was to say the least "rough" given the conditions. Many good
operators would hear me on the first, need a fill now and then. Others
sometimes gave up before being able to copy my signal. The RBN record for CW
from here to AZ indicates that I was usually getting 20-25 dB S/NR in Phoenix.
I can only assume that the RBN equipment is better than many stations in the
contest, as evidenced by the problems people had.
Several of the AZ stations were very broad, according to my K3... I presume
that the folks running those stations haven't been able to replace radios with
crummy IMD ratings.
Propagation was fair to good on Saturday, and on Sunday tanked early for the
TX-AZ skip so ended the effort early as a result. Next year, I will have to
run 100W to have a better "win-win" with my calls.
