Comments:
Tough getting going as I saw lots of activity on 15m early but nothing here. I
jumped back and forth between 20 and 40 and never had any rate to get a good
start. My goal was to beat my last year's score but fell short. I really enjoy
the SS CW as the first few hours are a blast.
I was trying a new radio setup here and that was interesting. The radio was a
FlexRadio 6700 in SO2R. The SO2R is built in the software using OTRSP with N1MM
Plus. The software was an Alpha version and has WinKeyer emulation enabled. No
external filters were used for isolation...just the internal to the radio and
evidently enough to not hear any IMD. I was prepared to add the W3NQN filters
if necessary. It is pretty neat to just plug the paddle and headphones in the
front of the radio and connections to the two amplifiers and start to operate.
I also used the prototype Maestro interface.
I expected a few bugs in this first attempt and there were a couple of hiccups
that caused me to lose some time...but that is fixable. Sitting next to me was
the reliable K3 SO2R setup ....just in case.
It was interesting working the sweep... last to come were NE and Hawaii. AH6KO
was worked at 0530 on 40m for the sweep. VY1AAA was my only NT but I saw that
VE8EV was also on but not heard.
Thanks for all the qsos and see you in the Phone version.
73, Craig K9CT
