Comments:
Good condx except for 10M. I was operating the SS mainly to check out using
assistance with N1MM as I usually operate unassisted. Most of my problems were
self made, but I did have one I could not control.. When I hit space after
entering a call, the msg would not enter correctly unless I hit space twice.
Took me a few minutes to figure that out at the beginning.
My other interest was in using my K3Sand KPA500 under contest conditions for
the first time. When running at high speed, the KPA500 reaches 70 degree C
fairly quickly and makes a big racket when the fan goes on high speed. Not
good. The pair of Alphas I used to use were not as noisy.
The K3S hears as well as my older K3. It may have been me, but several times
the VOX shut off when changing bands (yes, I know how to press and hold the
button) and when hitting a spot on the band map and returning to cq, it would
revert to CW instead of cw rev which I use when operating. This is an N1MM
thing.
Going to run the WWCW assisted to continue with this data.
I had to call VY1AAA several times for my sweep over an hour on 20M because he
was very weak. When I got him alone, he came back with QRZ W2 and we had many
repeats to get the data across. When he got everything and said QSL, he
thanked me for a new mult. How about that! Later he moved and showed up
calling CQ on my frequency when I could no longer hear even a peep from him.
Some people were not happy until I moved.
