40M was exceptionally quiet - so much so that it was frustrating hearing and
calling many stations that were not hearing me. This resulted in wasting a lot
of time. In the future, I will set a maximum time limit for calling without
making a QSO.
The packet cluster that I was using (in assisted category) stopped working with
much time wasted trying to find a satisfactory alternate. This contingency will
be planned for in the future.
Lastly, some recently integrated hardware only showed up as problematical
several hours into the contest. Eventually, I removed the new items and went
back to an earlier configuration. These problems had caused the K3 to lockup
continuously in key-down transmit mode even at switch-on with no external
computer connection, etc. Fortunately,the K3 was fixed by reinstalling a
backed-up configuration file for its firmware.
Next year, the above issues shouldn't be a problem (and hopefully everything
will go smoothly - hi).
