Woww! What a weekend!

After the SSB leg, where the team 9A7A participated in M/S category, this time
we opted for SB category, given the fact, that we do not have sufficient CW
operators for multi category ...
My good friend Eugen - 9A7V selected 28 MHz, and I choose 7 MHz.
Being awared that the 7 MHz is very demanding band, this was an excellent
opportunity for the first "real" test for our new antenna - 3 ele.
full size Yagi (designed by YU7EF).
In addition to 3 el Yagi, I used the Inv V and a beverages in 4 directions.
The goal that I've set was 3,000 QSOs, and try to brake the current 9A record
dating back to 1999 (1,007,591 score by 9A9A).
It was clear after the first 8 hours, this is going to be a great contest,
considering the fact that there was more than 1,000 QSOs in the log, with a
satisfactory number of multipliers. The new antenna has proved excellent, so
far! The relatively good rate continued during the day, when Inv V was a better
antenna to use for working EU.
Afternoon/evening runs toward the east were great, so I finished the first 24
hours with over 2,200 QSOs! From the experience, I was hoping that the other 24
hours will be at the level of 70% of the first day, which would jeopardize the
EU record! As the excitement and adrenaline increased, fatigue was less of the
problem …

Unfortunately, the rate of the first few hours on the second day was
substantially lower than expected, so a dream of breaking the EU record
quickly go away. A fatigue took its toll ...
The pause that I made took longer than I had originally planned, but it has
been necessary ...
The rest of the contest did not provide significant improvements, concerning
the RUN and S&P except for the last two hours, when the propagation towards
the USA increased, and the rate gets immediately better.

All in all, I am very satisfied with what I’ve done. The previous 9A record
is broken for more than 20%, which is a nice asset before the UBN procedure ...
:-)

Some interesting details:
max rate: 192 QSO/h
> 1.120 QSOs W/VE
> 330 QSOs JA/BY ...
On several occasions, I was pleasantly surprised with a rare DXCC who came to
my CQ, and many of them were also double mult. For example: HP, 6W, CS, CX, XE,
KL, JD1, V6, D4, OA, OX, 4S, VP8 , Antartica, lots of Caribien ....

Radio: TS590SG + PA
Ants: 3 ele full size Yagi @24m(designed by YU7AF), Inv V, Beverages in 4
directions
N1MM Logger+

Thanks to everyone who contacted me and made this weekend very enjoyable. All
QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW very soon!

73's de Martin, 9A5X
