Comments:

K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC.

W3GB and N3UM finished putting up a new T ant. for 160 m just a
few days before the 2015 Stew Perry: a 55-ft. vertical wire and
a 100-ft. top-load wire, with 8 of a planned 16 61-ft. radials
laid on ground or slightly buried. So, we were eager to see
how well the T worked. Only N3UM was available to operate.

Began just before 21 Z, running. First 3-point Q was at 2140,
first 4-pointer at 2241. Rate was 50/hr until 2212Z, then jumped
to 67/hr for 85 min. A 10-min BK; then tuned and found EI2CN for
11 points at 2349, first EU. After that, run or tune, the rate
dropped: 40 Qs 00-01Z, 49 Qs 01-02, 18 to 27/hr in the last 4
BIC hrs. But, got 6 more EUs at 14 to 18 points each: 2 OKs,
DL, SN, UW, and RW7. RW was the 18 pts, best DX at 9000 km.

Got only 3 6-pt. Qs (KV4, NP2, DM52 (AZ or NM)) and 2 7-pt. Qs
(Martinique and DM37 (UT)). NO west-coast Qs: as if a metal
curtain hung over the Rockies. Some years 160 is like that!
