Comments:
This was my first serious solo effort in this contest. Murphy popped in for a
couple of brief visits (including 2 "blue screens of death" on the
logging computer), but nothing insurmountable. And 10m opened briefly to
western Europe Sunday morning. So life is good.
Many stations offered fond remarks and memories about the W7RM call (e.g.,
UA9BA: "'Just like the old days!"; KH6HGP: "It's an honor to
work you…"; KH6J: "Thanks for the great call from the past!";
9A1A: "It's good to hear that call after all these years...") and
P40L: "Boy it's nice to hear that callsign!"). Rush Drake spent his
most famous years at Foul Weather Bluff outside Seattle, but his final years
were spent near Portland. Our radio club is now the licensee of the call.
It's an appropriate tribute to Rush to activate the call sign in DX contests -
his life's passion.
Thanks to all,
/Bill, K2PO
