Comments:

KL2R was back in force, bringing together three old hands from previous DX
contests and Wes WL7F for a long push through the weekend. The first hours
were incredible with over 800 QSOs in the log on 40-15 meters. The nominal
goal was to meet or exceed the station's performance shown in the CW contest
with 2000 QSOs and 1.2M points. The dream was to surpass the 2014 SSB contest
with 3000 QSOs and 1.465M points.

We shattered the dream by a fair amount in points. In 2014, there were only a
handful of low-band contacts, and over 1900 on 10 meters. Contacts on 40 this
weekend were comparable to last month's CW event, numbering well over 400, and
an order of magnitude greater than in 2014. On the other hand, 10m contacts
were few and far between, and even then tended to concentrate in UT and TX.
That band turned up very few multipliers.

Four tried, competitive guys in cramped quarters is no laughing matter, but
many laughs were had. We ate well, thanks largely to KL1BE.
