Comments:

Had intentions of just playing around in the contest but don't know if you would
consider 36 hours 'just playing around'. I operated assisted because I'm trying
to add to my band-country count and wanted to knock out some 'easy ones' while
we still have conditions.

160: No antenna.

80: Had great results calling stations and busting though pileups but can't
hear well enough to really run. I never got spotted trying to run and the time
was better spent on other bands. Worked 3 JA's the first night plus A71AM &
T32AZ. Set a schedule with VK3GK...heard him but couldn't complete.

40: I hate 40m phone. Worked nearly every mult I heard but had a difficult
time running. Just can't hear that well. The QRM was horrendus. The station
has two 2-ele yagis (Fixed NE, NW). Did get spotted a few times &
should've stayed with those runs longer. A relatively strong 3A2MG called at
0707z Saturday night & I tried to move him to 80m. I couldn't believe my
ears & had him repeat his call twice. I didn't even know anyone was active
from there.

20m: Spent my time either hunting mults on the low bands or running on the
high bands. Mainly chased multiplier on this band. I did run some but didn't
think signal strength was great.

15m: What a madhouse. Friday night had 9M6 call me 10 over s9. Moved him to
10m and worked him...s7 on the meter. Had some great runs Saturday morning as
10m was very marginal to Europe. Had an excellent JA run on Saturday
evening... Worked 10 DU stations... Some 50w ones. Found that ops get more
territorial on this band than any other.

10m: Worked 4 JA's & the 9M6 who was very loud. VERY good European
opening Sunday morning. Worked two mobiles, a guy with 0.5w & a 1 water.
I would describe it as an F2 opening with Sporadic E elements. At one point a
mobile 100w guy beat out a KW big-gun in Germany just a few hundred miles east.
Total worked 334 Europeans on just Sunday as opposed to just 97 on Saturday.
Called CQ JA on the skew path but guess none of the JA's made it up to 10m.

Overall had a great time. High points of the contest go to the 3A calling me
& working the QRP Eu guys on 10m. Thanks to Bill for N5YA letting me play
radio for the weekend. Always a pleasure to come out to the llama farm &
play radio.

73, Jason N5NU
