Comments:
Two days before the IARU we had a local power outage in our neighborhood. 411 of
us were dropped out of power for about only 10 minutes but between when it quit
& restart, some kind of surge did something. The controller box on my
SteppIR DB18 showed a message - "Driver Chip Error" This meant that
the antenna fequency control to retract or adjust was not possible so I was
stuck at the length at the time of the power outage - 7.030Mhz.
Since this was my situation, I was relegated to a single band/single mode
situation. Still had fun remaining foccused trying to make the best of my
little disaster. Band was very noisy and with semi high A index, I had to have
a number of call corrections.
Now to make a phone call to Tech Dept. on Monday to SteppIR & see where to
go from here. Fingers crossed that it is not too long out of commission.
