Comments:

Thanks again to K5DU and K5NA for hosting me. They really make a contest as
comfortable as possible with all the amenities of home and cuisine beyond all
expectation. Thank you very much, Richard and Susan!

I guess it just isn't a summer contest in Texas unless there is a biblical
thunderstorm crisscrossing the area. Many contacts were just buried in the QRN
and I had to give up on a few that I knew would never get through. Sorry to
those who I had to leave on the table. I had to just type in what I heard for
3-4 mults on 80 but it may not be what they sent. When I saw the forecast of
storms in the area I decided to go HP because I knew it was going to be a
savage slog on LP. Congrats to N5AW for sticking with it on LP and I know he
had the same QRN conditions since he is only an hour away from K5NA.

It really is a different contest from here than it is from New England. To
hear K1LZ running EU when I couldn't even tell if there was an opening to EU
really says it all. We finally had a reasonable opening on 20M by Sunday
afternoon and I could tell I was getting to the EU guys who broke out the QRP
rig with an indoor antenna to hand me a Q. Thanks to those guys for getting
on. My funniest Q was a call from a G station who, after hearing my exchange,
said "Oh dear, another contest". He politely gave me 5nn01 and went
QRT. I guess I was the first station he landed on when he turned on his rig.
;-)

I would vote for this contest being much shorter since we seemed to run out of
EU stations. I doubt there were too many position changes after the first
24-30 hours but since we don't hear all the guys that the east coast works, I
might be biased. ;-)

73,
Bob K5WA
