Comments:
Despite poor conditions, a fun weekend. (Perhaps my assessment is buoyed by the
fact that I got some good sleep, which the poor band conditions helped
justify.)
The log is light on JAs that usually make up the bulk of our contacts here in
the Pacific northwest. Only 13 on 40m, and none on 10m (vs 37/220 last year).
I heard a few big gun JAs on 10m backscatter, but my 100w apparently didn't
overcome the path loss.
For the first time ever, I logged more South Americans than Asians (166 to
160).
Some Europeans made it into my log. But only on 20m. None heard on 15m. (I
heard a few EUs on 40m at dawn, long path, but couldn't raise any.)
22% of my QSOs were from CQing, vs. 36% last year. Overall my score is down
64%, from 1.58M to 0.57M.
It wasn't all bad. Numbers were up on 160m and 80m - including 6 countries on
160m (which isn't shabby from this part of the world). And the second night I
heard (but didn't work) ZD8W on 160m.
There were the occasional fun surprises, e.g., FW5JJ came back to my 15m CQ at
noon while I was beaming the Caribbean, and I found the Pitcairn and Easter
Island stations before the pileups did.
