Comments:
Self inflicted QRM for the first 20mins as I had my Xmas lites lit on the MINI.
Eventually I found a spot to pull over safely and go into the boot (trunk) and
unplug the 12vdc/120vac inverter.
My apologies to Vidi, ZS1EL who I worked immediately AFTER the CWT who I called
"Raoul". There is no lookup in the MINI and I had a 50-50 chance of
getting your name right. Ooops. I am a poor guesser when trying to keep the
car between the snowbanks.
I only made 12 contacts during this 1/2 drive, but the band was l o o o o ng to
the west. (and apparently far down to S/Af!)
I called KL7SB off and on for the last 15 mins. It seemed like he MAY have had
local QRM/QRN or something as there were many others calling and I was not the
only one to get through, and then Steve would CQ again. Hi. I don't blame him.
He was likely HP with big antennas and I was 100w and a 4' stick. Hey, I
tried. In all fairness he was only 529-559 most of the time, which only the
occasional tick up to a true S9. It was nice to hear you in the MINI, Steve.
Hope to catch u in the Stew this weekend.
It was nice to work a few more west coast who I usually cannot make it to,
namely Rob, K6RB who got me on the first over. Thanks !
I could go on and on how much fun these are to do from the car, but I think you
get the point.
