Thanks to all those that worked us!!! Thanks to those that operated here. They
obviously did a good job. We have operated since 1997 and only missed two
years so SD has been represented. We have always made the top five and a
couple of first places. Also KD0S from SD has been in the top 10 so SD is
really represented. With the harsh SD WX we had a 20 meter antenna that had
SWR that was to high to use and a 15 meter beam that had no read out as to
azimuth so we just left it east. We had one amplifier that would not start up.
All this fancy protection stuff sure cuts down on the reliability. The 8877 HB
with no protection has never failed me but I sure can't say that about the
others, even the Alpha's. We did better than I expected given the low
sunspots. Being in January we got sporadic e last year and again this year.
The six band changes per hour continue to frustrate us!!! I have been told why
that rule helps us in the north central plains and the reasons given are
bogus!!!
It seems some things never change.
Mistakes, we stayed on 20M way to long on Saturday and the low QSO's on 40M
show that! With tho lower sunspots and being up north in the center 40M does
not do well later in the evening and though the night. Congratulations to N0NI
and NR5M. We just can't get the multipliers that do! We only missed a couple
that we know were on. Unfortunately it is back to ND not being active. MB
activity was way down this year. The other states seems well represented.
