K3, ACOM 2000A, 4-square, quads, SAL, N1MM+

Today marks one year since I first operated at N6RO. Things went well. Rain and
high winds were worrisome, but the good news is that rain quiets the power line
noise, and I was much less of an alligator. The SAL worked like a champ.

EU was difficult as always. Most of those were barely above ESP and I'm not
even sure they got my call right. First EUs were strongest via a scatter path
over SA. Saturday morning at dawn, had a nice run of Russia and Ukraine via LP.
After the first night, I had equaled last year's whole contest score.

Saturday night was started dry and only a little noisier (rain started again
later). But propagation was poorer. Also, I did such a good job working
everyone the first night that nobody was left! The tally was 4 Qs thru
midnight. Borrring! The expected JA run barely materialized thru dawn, and the
day only added another 25% to the bottom line.

Comment: After working a contest like this for many hours, repeated S&P
without RBN spotting is a really inefficient. Why anyone prefers unassisted
makes no sense to me.

The rest of the crew at N6RO ran single-op on the other bands:
10: Nobody
15: N6BV (remote operation)
20: K3EST
40: WA6O
160: N6RO

As always, thanks to Ken for use of the FB station, and to the other guys for
all the lively discussions.
