Comments:

This was my first time doing a contest for real from my new QTH. It's still a
bit rough due to having just the one tower, moving into the shack in the past
week and giving the new rig its first workout. There's much work yet to be
done. It was nice to get back into the fray. But not QRP this time around.

I did unexpectedly well on 80 and 160 despite using an inverted vee only up 19
meters. Conditions helped. It was all S&P on 10, 80 and 160. The only band
I could generate decent runs was 20, which is why it's almost half my Q's.

On Sunday my rotator needle went a little crazy. At first I thought the mast
had slipped. But it was the direction circuit. With just the one tower I had to
turn it a lot. At night I used a flashlight to "read" the direction,
or simply adjusted for maximum signal. This weekend's thaw must have let water
find a way into the cable.

Moderate electronic noise on the high bands was annoying at times. At least
some of it is coming from the shack computers. The ancient laptop running the
show also has a networking defect so after a few crashes I turned off the wifi
card and pulled the Ethernet cord. One problem solved for now.

I couldn't use the new Beverage since I didn't finish the terminations on
Friday. That's a shame though I doubt I needed it that much with my poor
transmit antenna on 80 and 160. I should be better prepared for the fall
contests after what should be a wild summer of tower and antenna building.

My vote for most confusing call this weekend was HC1WBT. He used to be HC1WDT,
as it turns out to my relief. I logged it fine every time I worked him but
worried that my ears were generating a phantom dit.
