Comments:

Like Marv, N5AW, I decided to try high power this time out.
I figured that if the conditions were no better than last
year, at least I would have more fun trying to run people.

There seemed to be two noticable differences between last
year's low power and this year's high power efforts:
1) you can reliably use a second radio because people
answer on the first call with the amplifier, and 2)
a lot more good stuff calls in when running with high power,
like 5R8SV, 4J6R, 9K2NO, V51YJ, and a number of ZS's off
the side of the beam.

Since Murphy visited Marv early in the contest he had
time to drop in here Sunday morning when my second radio
stopped working. I spent about an hour testing a number
of obvious possible problems while trying to work 15 meters
(luckily it was pretty slow there 8^) so no need to stop)
I already had a problem with my beverage
system stopping working (it worked ok in a brief test during
the CQ 160 last month) and my top 20/40 yagis are still
parked on Europe, waiting for a new indicator switch to
be installed in the prop pitch.

A comparison of this year's and last year's Continent Lists
(below) shows that the main difference was an extra 700
QSOs with Europe. I actually called CQ fewer times this
year than last year, (about the same number of times if
you count the TU at the end of the run contacts as another
CQ). Another 12dB surely helps!
