Comments:
The all FRC team that gathered at WE3C had hopes that conditions would be better
than the CW portion of the contest. Alas, it was not to be. A single CU was
worked on 10 for the only European QSO during the entire contest. 15 didn't
fare much better, with a poor opening on Saturday that was late and short, and
only a handful of Euros worked on Sunday. 20M-160M were the workhorse bands,
and we milked them for all they would give us.
This was a high wind weekend, with gusts close to 50 MPH on Friday. We didn't
notice until Saturday morning that two of the yagis in the 40m 3-stack were
significantly off. All antennas survived, and were realigned for Saturday
night's session.
The station continues to evolve and the operators are learning how best to
exploit the hardware. With the low bands expected to dominate for the next
couple of years, emphasis is shifting to adding to and improving the 160 and
80m antennas.
Team WE3C is thrilled to run the race with M/M legends W3LPL and K3LR. We are
awed, and inspired by you guys. Thanks to the sponsors, to all who called in
during the contest, and we will see everyone in the fall.
