Comments:
Several operating periods sprinkled throughout the contest, 40% CW and 60% SSB,
no digital. My oldest child (age 5) roared out of bed at 0550 LT on Sunday,
eliminating that usually fruitful window for tropo.
When I worked WA4Q at 2351 UT Sunday night at a range of 1000 km, I thought we
might be going to get some 2m Es, but I had to cut the grass! I daydreamed of
that on the mower and finished the back yard with headlights! I'll be reading
the other summaries for 2m Es reports but I'm sure I would have heard about it
by now...
I had the ON4KST R2 144/432 chat rolling but posted sparingly and with no use.
It was handy to connect with a couple of stations, though.
Equipment:
6: Elecraft K3/100 + KPA500 amplifier + Homebrew 2-el Yagi at 27 feet
2: Elecraft K3/100 + K144XV internal transverter + Mirage B3016 (~100 W) +
vertical stack of M2 2M9SSB (each 9 el on 14.5-foot boom) at 35 over 24 feet
432: Elecraft K3/100 + Microwave Modules MM432 + Mirage D1010 (~50 W) +
Directive Systems DSFO432-15RS (15 el on a 8-foot boom)
This was the first contest with 432 actually working since I returned the
loaner FT-736R to it's owner (thanks, Brian). There's some more tweaking to be
done there.
Thanks for the QSOs and 73,
--Ethan, K8GU.
