Comments:

As always, a variety of callsigns is the spice of life. I started FD at K8BF
(4A) for 3.5 hours. Then headed off to a group with an old fried at KS3N (2D
WPA). This had been advertised as being a 2A effort, so it was disappointing to
find it had become a D class station. Operated there on & off around meals
and chats for four hours and about 200+ QSOs, then home for the night. Sunday
morning I didn't feel like driving off to any other FD locations, but realized
that the KX3 on batteries would be Class E, so that is what I did on Sunday.

Excellent Es openings on the high bands.I actually some short runs to east
coast (including EPA and MDC) on 10 meters. I hadn't bothered to try SSB as QRP
there is quite difficult, but after 1800Z I checked 6 SSB to see if the band was
still open, and found good buddy KU8E for my only phone QSO.

Many years ago K3LR & I did 1A Field Days where we started setup at 1800z
to get those last 3 hours of operating time. Such was usually good for well
over 100 QSOs. No longer. I had a few QsOs shortly after 1800z, but when I came
back at 1915Z had six in about 20 minutes. And it would have been worse without
the great short skip.

With Field Day over, summer is now officially here.
