Comments:
My personal best for this contest was back in 2013 when I had 2102 contacts for
a score of 2,896,539, and I ran unassisted for that contest! But 10M was open
then and I had 329 contacts on that band.
This year I only could muster one contact on 10M, and it was with PVRC member
Steve's excellent multi-operator station NR4M. Later on I tried to get a run
going on that band for maybe 20 minutes, was picked up by a couple of skimmers,
but never got a single response. I also saw one other station spotted from the
8th call area, but I couldn't hear him either. Also, 15M was not that great,
but at least it was better on Saturday than on Sunday.
We had a couple of our local "Yardhogs" members go to Malawi for a
church service project and while there they put 7Q7WW on the air. They were
Bill, KC4D and Jerry, W1IE. I heard them on the air Sunday morning working
split up 1.2-1.4 kHz but I could never break through the European wall! Then
they disappeared, apparently due to the frequent power outages in that country.
I see that local John W4JAM did get through and he is to be congratulated!
I did not stay up late either night and I took naps both days, as I usually do.
I am too old to put in long hours any more, but as always I did have fun and
again thanks for all the Q's!
73, Sam W4PK
