Comments:

This was an interesting one. I wanted to try running remote from K1TTT just so
that I didn't have to retune and waste time when i switched bands. A couple of
quirks I noticed... I'm stuck at whatever Dave left the rig at in order to
drive the amp (ACOM 2000) so I guess I was somewhere in the ballpark of 25 W
tonight (it was either that or max smoke). I guess 4/4 on 40, an 80m 4-square,
and an inverted V at 180' make up for the lack of power.

N1MM+ has its quirks. I clicked on the button on the bandmap to turn the rx
antennas off because I didn't want to have to deal with beverages while on the
80m 4-square (too many buttons to work while remote) and it kicked me into
CW-land. I had to switch modes and freqs to reclaim my calling frequency! This
taught me that there is no substitute for the knobs, buttons, and whirligigs on
the radio in front of you!

I was also using the SDR waterfall as my primary way of moving up and down the
band since N1MM+ was set to move .1 kHz with each press of the up/down keys. OK
for fine-tuning but not OK for scanning the band for stations or a hole to run.

Also, I have no idea how my audio sounded. People seemed to hear me, but I have
no idea if i sounded like a crappy cellphone or what. The monitor audio I was
getting back wasn't the greatest (also with a half a second lag) so... idk.

Anyway, it was an interesting experience to say the least and who knows... I
might try it again.

Thanks for the QSOs!
73,
Nick (MAZ) K1NZ
