Comments:
Did single-band 40m (assisted) using a rotary dipole at about 75ft. The antenna
was installed specially for the CQWW SSB weekend, on the day before.
There were two major breaks in the operation.
One was a five hour gap on the Saturday morning as I had to go out to wind down
the tower and dismantle the antenna in order to find out why there were
mysterious "dodgy contact" problems somewhere in the coax/antenna!
Precious contesting time was spent/wasted fixing the antenna (as well a
re-making two less than perfect coax connectors!).
The second significant period of down time was a much needed four hour sleep on
Saturday evening. Other than that most of the time was operating.
Operating "40m SSB", with so many stations trying to cram themselves
into such a small amount of spectrum space, is, at times, not much fun on the
ears!
