Comments:
As always, about noon on Sunday decided to quit and do something productive on
our 27 acres. Of course this happens every year. But the rate Sunday
afternoon on 20m was ~40, so not too bad. I did quit 30 mins early to head down
to local Mexican restaurant for some much needed warm comfort food and a Negra
Modelo.
Thanks to all for the many QSO's. In classic SS style, I simply waited out the
missing Me multiplier -- finally, a weak W2 called in on 20m 2 hours before end
of contest . . the op (W2QF) was especially courteous, like many in SS, and
helped me verify each element of the exchange for accuracy. For first time in
many years, missed Newfoundland. Earlier, also on 20m, I was missing both VT
and WY along with ME: then, on successive QSO's, W1SJ and WY7SS called in.
As a testament to currently awful conditions, I note that in 2010 LP
non-assisted yielded slightly more points with less hours. And in 2013, set SF
Section HP record using FT1000-MP MkV barefoot at 200 watts! This year with FLP,
got about the same # of pts, maybe less after subtracting errors, which will be
high this year because of weak signals to west coast.
It was a special honor to work the three ops who helped so much on our recent
trip to MS/LA . . Chuck, NO5W, Art, KZ5D, and Ray, WQ5L. We met all three for
very enjoyable eyeball QSO's.
