Comments:
I love WAE-RTTY, but this year I had a very slow start. I woke up at 05:30 UTC,
fresh and ready for a serious LP effort. But Murphy was with me: I discovered
that, when connecting the Band Pass filters for SO2R setup, one radio was going
deaf. I was not in the mood to chase and repair the wrong cables, so I went to
2m and 6 m/EME and work some nice DX via EME. Finally, after moonset, by 11:30
UTC, I managed to have my SO2R working and I rejoined the QTC game.
10 m was completely dead, 15 m was good for multipliers only, but thanks to
20/40/80m activity, I managed to reach 971 QSO-s in 28 hrs. I really appreciate
the patience of DX operators to accept QTC traffic, especially with the poor
propagation. Most people preferred to send QTC-s, but it went OK on my side
using two decoders: MMTTY and 2Tone.
The last comment: I hope that WAEDC managers will revert to old rules, to show
separate results for DX and separate for EU. I just observed the 2017 rules,
with mixed EU/DX categories and mixed results. See you all in the coming
contests! 73, Alex YO9HP
