Hi!

CQ WW RTTY was good, will win again. I didn't participate on the CQ WW SSB, the
joy for SSB is a bith gone. Due to the band restrictions and the conditions.
Anyway I was looking forward to the CQ WW CW. Last year I had a personal best
with almost 1300 qso's, a week before the contest I decided to go again for 80m
QRP. I was wondering if I can win this contest also in CW.

The start of the contest, the first two hours I had around 50 QSO's. I did
S&P and when I had worked everybody I called CQ. My speed was 20WPM. Big
guns like CN2AA, ED8X, EF8R, they all came back to my call. Even some Asiatic
Russian stations, unbelievable with 5w! I was able to work some USA likes NR4M,
W3LPL, ... some stations came back to my call. Anyway surprising how good USA
operators are, I only had to sent my call once, they al copied it!
The plan was to look at scores of last year, after shift 1, I was around the
7th place, happy with that. I stopped at 6UTC, was so tired...

Suprised to see activity on 80m at 15UTC, so early, most of the time Eastern
Europe. During Saturdaynight, I only worked one USA station, noiselevel was
higher then at the start, rates were around 20/qso's/hour. Happy to work
special stations like 7X2ARA, 9K2NO, 4L5P, ...
Sundaynight I beated the score of the first one last year!
Never believed that I could make qrp 577 qso's on one band. The difference
between RTTY and SSB is big, but also between RTTY and CW. My personal best in
RTTY is around 377 qso's, big difference with CW.

Some concerns:
1. I am not ON3ND, a lot of stations thought because of my weakness that I was
my Belgian colleague, I'm not ;-)
2. 20WPM is slow, I know but there is a reason why I call CQ at that speed. I
can't decode at 30WPM by ears. Frustrating that even the big stations don't
QRS... Pitty!
3. Conditions were poor, perhaps next year better! Despite that, never had so
many multipliers on 80m. And there is space for improvement, haven't heard
stations like D4C, VY2ZM, P40A, ...

I hope that nobody else had the same idea as I had, but I'm not sure about
that. I saw that US2IZ was also qrp on 80m, hope he was assisted and otherwise
he is a fair winner!

Tnx for the qso's!
