Comments:

Another challenge for this geezer to stay up like I was a teenager again.

For once the local noise wasn't horrible, still there but better than usual
(AMTRAK 75' from my antennas is not my friend). The HI-Z circle 8 & the
triangular helped but on the other hand,,, it is so frustrating to hear so many
DX stations and not be heard. 5W doesn't do much in a contest. Grayline is magic
though, several DX stations I futilely called at least 50 times each through the
contest called me when I was CQing mid-way through grayline and added to the
multiplier.

I found the QRM wasn't so bad this time either, for the most part people tried
not to QRM. One guy I'll not call out came on top of me, called QRL? and in the
same moment immediately called CQ; Once a toad, always a toad.

One of the things I felt most strongly is the absence of my mentor, PAT,
W5WMU/W1WMU. Old friends, we would always find each other during a contest and
say hi for a minute, now only the memory of his key remains. I'd like to share
with him my happiness in this all time high score but I can only do that in a
toast to Auld lang Syne.

Hope you all had as much fun as I did. 73, Gary, KA1J
