Comments:

Many thanks to the Contestgroep Oude Maas, and especially Florian PB8DX, Alex
PA1AW and Kees PA3BWD, for letting me operate the station and providing
tremendous technical support. This is very much appreciated. The team worked
very hard on the repairs to the station in freezing weather in the weeks leading
to the contest and it all finally came together only after the contest has
already started, luckily, with minimal impact to my operation.

This was my first single-op effort from Europe since I've been on a work
assignment in PA since August and it was a great fun. For additional fun factor,
I've challenged my friend OQ5M to what is now known as the Lowlands Russian CW
Shootout, or LRCS for short. Having similar setups and exchanging scores every
hour made it an exciting 24 hours. With the final scores being less then half a
percentage point apart, this one "will go to the judges". But I'm
fairly confident that Franki's small advantage will hold, as his logging usually
is quite accurate.

It is quite unfortunate that this kind of entertainment is not available back on
the West Coast. The rules do not encourage participation from there at all, as
witnessed by my own log, which only has 7 QSOs with the stations in zone 3, all
on 20. I made more contacts with N1UR and KO7SS this weekend! The latter
operated remotely from back East to join the fun. Also strange was making 5 Qs
with the stations in zone 19 and only 15 JAs (also all on 20). It is truly a
different world out here.
