Every time out on the road mobile is a new experience. This year MOQP was a
pleasant one. A direct hit to the KI0I tower ,eliminated all equipment and
computer from the op desk. Including the IC 7100 I run mobile. I ordered a new
one and it arrived in time to set it up and run it,and it ran without failure.
The only hiccup I had was the PTT button on the old HM-151 hand mic I use
stopped working. So I plugged a spare mic off the MK2G spare rig into the back
of the 7100 body to talk on and left the HM-151 hanging to control the radio.
Dont know how that worked out for the listeners end, I may have had two mics hot
!
Anyway , other than the usual odd looks and occasinal picture being taken of a
car with six or seven antennas on it , all went well.
A little snow visited MO on Sunday but the roads never got slick where I was.
The Bands were a lil flaky at times but signals got thru somehow.
There were many fine ops chasing mobiles and many had more than a dozen Q's in
the W0E log . Most Sightings was N6MU with an amazing 56! Great work again John
!
We missed hearing OM2VL this year but several DX ops were hard at it .
DL3DXX booming in for 17 Q's ! HC2AO had a very good signal and 5 Q's logged.
Thank you all for being there making another fun weekend of operating mobile.
If you have never done it , you dont know how long a few minutes or more between
callers feels. It's nice to be busy !
73 til next time
I hope to see a lot of familiar calls in Dayton , my first trip to the "big
show"!
Mark KI0I aka Whiskey Zero Echo
