Comments:
A chance to test summer conditions in solar minima on 40m. Sun down only 4 hours
in the night, it is somewhat a challange to operate the lower bands from 64 deg
north in end of may. Contest started with good NA signals. Got some DX in middle
of day of saturday, mostly Westcoasters and Hawaii, weak, but some had good ears
and some not. Quite good in saturday evening to Asia, but not many JA QRV. In
the middle of the night some Aurora started, but band did not die, must have
been some aurora-E propagation to NA and also got some closer stations on
backscatter. On sunday the conditions were worse during day, only EU heard and
worked. Good again to Asia in sunday evening but think most of the Japan
contesters were sleeping. Ended with quite good propagation to SA and VK6
longpath and last hour to NA with good signals.
Thanks to all callers and to Mike having station in top trim again :-)
