Comments:
Bob, K6ON, and Ted, K6XN, operated part time from our cabin location in a cabin
in the forest in Nevada County at a 5000 foot elevation running on solar power,
batteries and a small generator. Our station comprised an Icom IC-775 DSP, an
Icom IC-2KL amplifier and an Icom AT-500 automatic antenna tuner. We also
operated another station NC6DX part time from the cabin when we were not
operating NN7NN and/or repairing problems and performing maintenance at the
cabin, walking our dogs and enjoying the forest trails. Because we were running
on batteries and solar power with a small generator backup we kept our power
down to 300 to 400 watts.
Antenna(s): KLM KT34A triband four element beam, KLM four element 40M beam,
Inverted VEE antenna for 80M and a DX Engineering 43 foot vertical antenna.
