Comments:

6-foot diameter magnetic loop (20/40/80)
2el folded Yagi (20) ("Franken-tenna", replacing the loop Sunday
morning)
2el short-beam Yagi (15)

Two years ago, SS provided my first QSOs ever. Last year went pretty well for
my very limited station, finishing 3rd in a category for AZ despite submitting a
a checklog. This month has been a bear at work, but I looked at my report from
last year and I seemed to enjoy SS. I've mostly outgrown using spotting in a HF
contest especially having the IC-7300 spectrum display, and I can't run high
power at this QTH, so precedence "A" it was.

Saturday afternoon into the wee hours went so poorly that I almost completely
quit, and I did take some long breaks. By dawn, I was 100 QSOs behind last
year's pace, which is quite an accomplishment since I made less than 200 QSOs
total last year!

Putting up the 20-meter Franken-tenna is a challenge because it has to be about
10 feet high to have room to install the elements, but it was worth it. I need
to make some structural mods, but it passed its first test on Sunday morning
with flying colors. Having a bit of gain allowed me to do okay on 20 (mostly
East Coast) and 15 (all East Coast) into early afternoon. I might have been
able to catch up to last year's overall score, but I was just too tired and
ended up bailing on the last 7 hours of the contest. Always appreciative for
the stations who make the extra effort to pull me out of the noise, and for the
ones who politely bail out quickly to save both of us a lot of trouble!

Biggest oddity: 14 QSOs with MDC (including 4U1WB which was a nice surprise) and
no more than 5 from any other section!
