Station: FTdx5000, DX-LB Trap dipole in an "L" configuration, N1MM+
Our local utilities provider, National Grid, just fixed a sodium vapor street
light that was in continuous start up mode, located about 1/8 mi from my
station. Only took 3 calls and 2 months. As a result the band was unbelievably
quiet (save for the usual raucous switchers I haven't found yet). However
signals were not strong.
With my cheesy antenna, I tried not to torture stations I called. If they
couldn't copy me in three tries, I moved on. However, in better band conditions
I have worked PAC, EU with this antenna. Even the Caribbean
guys were a struggle. So just a few Q's to support the event.
73,
Ken - WO1N
