Comments:

The NAQP is up to incredible popularity levels now! I was expecting very poor
band condx. Thanks to sporadic E help on all bands and some F2 on 15, it was
much better than expected. I checked 10M several times, nothing but locals. I
tried a move with N5CW in MS from 15 (booming) and despite hearing him Q5, he
did not hear me. I had some great runs on 20, then 80 (230 Q's in one run
starting early), and 160. The west coast was easy on 80 by 0430Z and workable on
160. I was called on 160 by CO,AZ,UT,MT,ID,WY,NV,SK,CA,OR, and WA. There was a
low MUF drop around 24-02Z (NC,VA,OH,PA,NY,NJ,ON,and some 1's were skipping
over), but there was enough activity on 80 to keep my run going until about
0120Z. Then, condx gradually improved and 2's,3's and VA stations were booming
in again on 80. It was snowing outside, but no wind, so no snow static. Rx
conditions were extremely quiet. I had a few fairly deep pile ups, but worked
them down down quickly.

Many thanks for the calls and Q's; the score is by far a personal best for me,
but still in also ran territory compared to many. It is tougher when a lot of
the NE population areas are skipping over on almost all bands. Congrats to
Howie, N4AF for a superb east coast showing and also to N3QE (found me on 5
bands?, moved to 10), K7SV (great showing on 40 without yagi!), and N4YDU for
outstanding scores. I did fix one problem; I finally figured out I had a bad
tuner balun vs. bad ladder line on 80M dipole and fixed with an external 4:1
balun. The 80M dipole works much better on 40-20 (not used on 20), but not sure
it made much difference on 80 despite best 80M results ever.

73, Jeff N8II
