Couldn't operate for as many hours as I'd liked, but still had fun. Had a short
period on Saturday night when I played hell getting East Coast stations to
answer my calls. W1OP, who would have been my last needed state, couldn't hear
me. I finally got him later on. Missed only DC. Got only 6 provinces. But, hell,
I got 24 countries, missing only 2 that I couldn't get to hear me, BY and ZP.
Didn't get VK for my last needed continent. So, this was a good one. I still use
a crummy BOG for a receive antenna. I managed to get a few Europeans, but it was
a quasi-miracle. Thanks to F4HEC for sticking with it to get me to dig him out
of the din. Worked a few others who persisted, including ON6SAS and DJ5AN who
also persisted. Even got CN2CO, who called me! D4C was very strong and so was
CT9ABO at his sunrise. My last Eu Q was at 0740 and my first JA that night (yes,
it was JA7QVI) was at 0747. Wow, what a reach. Wish I had had more time for
this
contest. It was a good one. 1.5kW homebrew amp to inverted-L with 5 crummy
radials in the dense brush. Receive antenna, an unterminated BOG running
alongside the road out front. 73, Paul K7CW
