Comments:

Used our new remote Maine station and got a chance to really run it through its
paces for the first time. We even used our new club call of W4KZ. We wanted to
run M/2 but with only 3 guys it would have been a stretch so we went M/single.
We still felt handicapped without our 4-squares and RX antennas up yet (this
summer).
But even with that, and very low sunspots - 0 and not having any 10 meters to
speak of, it really rocked. At 3:30 am, both mornings, we went to 20 meters to
start running. 15 meters opened up about 2 hours later and boy, it was fun
running 15 meters again with great runs in the dark. At 12:30pm we would go to
40 meters with so much daylight left, it felt odd. We were working QRP 5 watt
European stations at noon on 40M!
But it broke open and we were working guys QRP in Europe with loud signals.
There were no gaps in band openings. Before 20M would die off, 40M would
already be there to take its place, and so on. At night, 80M would run till 20M
would open. 160M opened for us around 4-5pm with loud signals from Europe. Our
rate charts stayed in the green through out the entire contest, even at 2-4am.
The pileups were endless and felt like being in the Caribbean again.
The station performed perfectly. Very low noise and responsive. Just didn't
seem like we're remote.
AA4CF & W9RNY were the real work horses in this. Amazing stuff to watch!
Sleep deprivation never felt so good. 73's W9SN
